Dr. Bianca Ribeiro de Souza

PhD | Postdoctoral Fellow

Bianca’s research at EDGE lab is diving into the least studied and understood form of epithelial ovarian cancer – Endometroid Ovarian Carcinoma. She is working on prognostic molecular classification to improve clinical decision-making for this form of ovarian carcinoma as well as seeking potentially targetable biomarkers for new precision therapy strategies. Bianca was born and raised in Brazil and met Dr. Anglesio during a 5-month visit to his Lab in 2022 while a PhD student. After finishing her PhD at University of Campinas in Brazil (Molecular and Morphofunctional Biology), she returned to Canada in 2023 as a postdoctoral fellow. Bianca’s background is in women’s reproductive health, urogenital cancers, and Immunology. She also holds a Master’s degree in Biosciences, as well as a Bachelor’s and Teaching Degree in Biological Sciences from the São Paulo State University, Brazil. When not researching, Bianca loves doing music, playing piano and her guitar or singing.
