Dr. Michael Anglesio
PhD | Principle Investigator
Dr. Anglesio has been a faculty member at UBC since 2017 and runs a research program studying endometriosis-associated cancers, endometriosis, and uterine biology. His research uses genomics and protein biomarkers to understand the etiology and classification of these endometrial pathologies and malignancies, as well as enable the development of precision medicine.
Prior to joining UBC as a faculty member, Dr. Anglesio obtained his undergraduate degree at McGill University (Microbiology and Immunology; Pharmacology), followed by a PhD at UBC (Pathology; Childhood Cancer Research Program), and postdoctoral work at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre (Cancer Biology and Therapeutics Program). Returning to UBC in 2010 he worked with BC’s Gynecologic Cancer Research Team on a broad spectrum of biomarker and genomics projects related to gynecologic cancers and endometriosis and established his independent research group in 2017. He has mentored more than 40 learners at undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate training levels; and contributed to over 100 peer reviewed publications. Dr. Anglesio has received recognitions from the Department of Pathology and Lab Medicine at UBC (2016 Excellence in Mentoring Award), the Columbia Hospital for Women Research Foundation Prize (2017 Most impactful publication in breast and gynecological disease), and the CIHR - Institute of Cancer Research (Early Career Researcher Award in Cancer 2022).
